Living in God's Terms

One of the requirements for citizenship in our country is to 'stay informed' on the issues of the day. And as Christians, we ought to be informed citizens. Yet we should also be wise to the world and its ways (Matt. 10:16). Use the resources of modern day Egypt (Ex. 3:22) but don't depend upon them and certainly don't be consumed by them.

The internet is a mosh pit of true, somewhat true, false, somewhat false, and just plain crap. Avoid it. Read a good book instead.

Social media has shown us how craven and ugly people can be when hiding behind a keyboard. Sites like Twitter have devolved into what amounts to Open Mic Night in Hell.

Be informed by History. Spend time in God's Word. Contrast it with what the world is exercised over. Is 'race' the paramount issue in God's Word?

Well' if you mean the human race, perhaps. God has sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem the human race. But, if you're listening to the world, skin color IS race and mankind is divided along these false lines. God says, 'No'. (Gal. 3:28)

And our history in this world shows that when we divide ourselves by false divisions, we suffer. From the genocides of the Moriori in 1835 to the slaughter of Yazidis in 2014 and ongoing persecutions based on false man-made divisions, we suffer unto death.

But the world and the worldly people who seek to control the world love divisions. We are divided by the color of our skin, who we vote for, thoughts we express, and so much more. The world is telling us it's 'Us against Them'. And the 'Them' is evil and must be silenced and eliminated.

Yet the King of Glory has already come into this world to divide us! Yes, division is good and we should seek it. But who has drawn the lines of division? How do we find the antithesis in this world?

Christ begins to draw the line of antithesis in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:15) and continues that division throughout history to the Day of Judgement when goats will be separated from His sheep. (Matt. 25:31-46)

Yes, the world is right--it IS Us versus Them. But, like so many fallible worldly arguments, the world mis-defines Us AND Them.

Before engaging in any argument, terms must be properly defined. When Christians argue in Us versus Them terms, 'US' of course, refers to all believers in Christ, and 'Them' refers to all those who do not acknowledge Christ as King. Simple. Not black vs. white, male vs. female, old vs. young, Democrat vs. Republican, etc.. Christians see one race, created by one Triune God with one destiny.

We will all face a day when we will be called to defend our ideas and arguments before our Final Judge and Great King (Isaiah 33:22). And in that day there will be only two divisions--those Christ calls His own and those He never knew.

Knowing this, let us abandon the lies of this world and unite in Christ as one race--Human.
