Why All Our Days Are Merry: My Christmas Thoughts

Tis that time of year when, all over the world, we earthlings wish one another a Merry Christmas. And some of us even mean it! We do wish upon our loved ones and neighbors a day of merriment, whatever form that might take around their hearth.
And the weeks before and after our collective Merry Christmas are either seen as those leading up to the 'big day' or the days of fond remembrance.
But because of Christ, ALL our days are merry, not just the one we wish upon ourselves each year! Every day this side of the cross is glorious, victorious, and meaningful.
So, if we must insist on just one day to celebrate Emmanuel,we must also see the gifts, carols, gatherings, and lights as the meager offerings of grateful children imitating their Heavenly Father.
God gives good gifts (Matt. 7:11); let us give like God.
God sings over His beloved (Zeph. 3:17); let us sing as well.
God gave us the Light of the World (John 8:12); let us reflect Christ to His world.
Don't simply celebrate Christmas one day of the year. BE Christmas and all that it means EVERY day of the year! Give, sing, gather in His name, and above all...LOVE.
LOVE the life He has won for you. Love the family and friends He has given you. Love and love abundantly.
Such a Love as was given to us in Bethlehem, and demonstrated before us at Calvary, can't be contained in just one day. What a wonderful truth! Even old Ebeneezer Scrooge realized this when he declared, "I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year."
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. But, I especially wish all of us a lifetime of Love. The Love that came down at Christmas so, so long ago, now reigns in Heaven and beckons each of us to love one another, not just for a day, but every day. May all your days be merry as you embrace the Maker of your merriment, Christ our King.
